Since I was the age of about 16 I have made an effort to ware makeup every single day whether I leave the house or not. This is simply absurd.
There is an enourous emphasis from bloggers and companies that to be the best you can possibly be you need to ware makeup, however what is the point in doing so if all you are doing is slouching round the house all day or just popping to the shop for some milk?
I love makeup, it instantly boosts my confidence and when I am feeling ill it makes me feel better and presentable. However I am trying to change my ways and not just putting makeup on for the sake of it.
So I pledge to you bloggers of the world that as of now I will try to have at least two days a week which are makeup free! And will only purchace makeup if I have run out of that specific product! Its going to be hard, but I will do my best.
Advantages of not wearing makeup everyday/ having a few days off:
1) Cost
Imagine how much money could be saved if you limited wearing makeup to only a few days a week! Less boots purchases for foundations, eyeliners, mascaras (ect) the savings are endless.
Or even better, as you aren't burning through your drugstore foundation you find next time you can actually go to the 'expensive' section and spend more as you use it for special events only.
2) Skincare
Your skin will only benefit from a break in coating it in products that last all day. Maybe for me, I will finally be able to remove this stubborn eczema off my face!
3) Confindence
As I have previously said, for me wearing makeup boosts my confidence, however, I now feel as though I should start feeling confident in my own skin. So come on girls, lets try to feel confident in our own skin!
4) Time
That 20 mins every morning putting on your make up and 10 minutes every night could now be spent reading a novel, writing on your blog, playing a video game, working on an assignment, getting more sleep, the possibilities are truly endless!
5) Making wearing makeup special
Rather than a mundane every day activity by limiting your usage wearing makeup now becomes something special that you use for certain occasions.
How often do you wear makeup? Do you think that this is too often/less? Please let me know, I love hearing other peoples makeup habits!
Great advice, I really need to stop wearing makeup every single day, especially when I'm inside doing nothing x

Oh yay love this post :') I talked on my blog about feeling pressured to wear make up more because so many bloggers wear stunning make up every day. If I do wear make up is usually only a slick of mascara and concealer :/ I used to wear make up every day at school, I wasn't any better then haha. I think I am just too busy to apply make up every day and it's not something I think of to do unless I'm bored with time to kill haha. I'm the kind of person whose rushing from one task to the next, and when I am relaxing I am fully relaxing haha. Glad to read this 'cos there are tons of benefits to not wearing make up so much :D
ReplyDeleteHope your eczema clears up soon, not wearing make up helps mine :) xo
I can 100% relate to this, as I'm also guilty of applying makeup religiously each and every day without considering if it's truly necessary. It's definitely a habit I'd like to conquer for 2015, and as you point out, think of the money I would save! :) Love your blog! Lucy x

Love this post!! Since I started studying from home, I now have around 3 makeup-free days a week! It's great as I also suffer from eczema! x
ReplyDeleteGreat post! :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was at college I wore it everyday but I became so bored of wearing it so now that I'm at home more often than not I never wear it unless I'm going to a meeting, seeing friends or special occasions which I love as I now enjoy wearing it again :)
