Balancing Uni Work Over Christmas | Blogmas day 3

Welcome to my 3rd day of the Twelve Days of Blogmas!

A slightly less cheery one today I'm afraid, but I don think its an important discussion to be having this time of year. (Don't worry tomorrows will be full on CHRISTMAS)

So it's December, which can mean one of two things to people, firstly 'It's almost Christmas yay!' or the dreaded 'How much work?!? How is this even humanly possible even though I'm not at Uni for a month I have about five months worth of work to do ahhhhhh!'. For the past four years I have found myself in the latter.

Universities love to place all essays. assignments or finals as they are often know at this time of year within weeks of one another, and like the amazing student you are, you promised yourself to do all your work within lots of time and never have to stress about a deadline again. But because you are a human, life happened and now you are in the sorry mess of having a list as long as your arm to complete before January. So rather than watch a film with your family on Christmas Eve, you find yourself researching an essay (yes, this was me last year) that has a bizarre deadline like January the 2nd, I do really have this deadline this year.

Okay, so now I have made you really stressed, and if by some miracle you haven't clicked off yet, comes some advice and a pep talk molded by 'been there done that's'.

1) Its okay to feel overwhelmed
You are not alone in this, I promise. Everyone (minus the weird organized people of the world) feel the same way about deadlines, no matter how long you know about them they still managed to cause you more stress than everything else. Just listen to this message: You are not alone!

2) Having a day off does not make you a bad person
This goes for all year round but needs saying none the less, going to meet your friends for a coffee/dinner/anything does not make you a bad student or a bad person. EVERYONE needs down time, whether this is a day you go Christmas shopping with your mum or leave your evenings to watch films and drink hot chocolate. This time off will make your work better not harm it, so stop making yourself feel so bad all the time.

3) Have a break
Leading on from the last one but I do think it's the most important of this list give yourself at least a week off and NEVER work on Christmas day. I say a week but ideally minimum of two. I have learned this the hard way, trust me. I did not give myself a break over Christmas last year which meant I worked solidly from around December untill May, this is not healthy and will really make you burn out quickly. So this year from the 18th of December for two weeks I am not doing one piece of uni work.

I really hope I helped you in some way, feel free to comment below or vent to me on social media about deadlines, I feel your pain.

See you tomorrow for a really Christmassy post!

My top 15 Christmas Songs | Blogmas day 2

Welcome to my 2nd day of the Twelve Days of Blogmas!

Today I'm going to do a post about my top fifteen christmas songs, in no particular order.
I just love Christmas music, you listen to it every year during all the excitement in the build up to Christmas so it therefore acts as a powerful tool of nostalgia. Every song can take you back to a time and place, and as you get older and (dare I say it) the magic of Christmas slightly dims, you are taken back to a previous Christmas that holds very precious memories.
As I lived away for three years for University I had a long journey home either by train or car which meant I would always create a playlist filled with Christmas goodies to fill my time traveling. Although this year I am at home, I still am listening to every song I possibly can.
So find below 15 of my favorite Christmas songs, and don't forget to let me know your favorites and tell me if you think I have missed any.

1. Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas Is You
Probably my top Christmas song of all time. Perfect to belt out when your on your own in the car, we can all be diva's after all haha!

2. Michael Bublé - Its Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas
The first Christmas song everyone should hear each year.

3. Kelly Clarkson - I'll Be Home for Christmas
Such a beautiful rendition of an absolute classic.

4. Wham! - Last Christmas
I remember singing this to the retirement home when I was in primary school, yes that actually happened.

5. The Pogues ft. Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale of New York
Almost an anti-Christmas song, but perfect nonetheless.

6. Frank Sinatra - Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
Because we are all preying for snow this year.

7. Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday
This song was the first song on a childs Christmas compilation so its fair to say I know every word and every beat.

8. Chris Rea - Driving Home For Chrismas
A must if you are actually driving home for Christmas.

9. The Darkness - Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End)
Without a doubt the rudest song on this list, endless chuckles as a child!

10. Sam Smith - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
Simply beautful, well done Sam!

11. John Lennon - Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
A classic, makes you think of those who aren't going to be able to enjoy this Christmas.

12. Paul McCartney - Wonderful Christmastime
Again an absolute classic.

13. Bing Crosby - White Christmas
How could anyone have a list of Christmas songs and NOT have this one, like seriously.

14. The Muppet Christmas Carol - One More Sleep 'Til Christmas
Hehe! Yes the muppets. As a family we watch this every year. Not always on Christmas Eve so we have to cram just exactly how many days left 'til Christmas there is, yes we were cool kids.

15. Idina Menzel Duet with Michael Bublé - Baby It's Cold Outside
Just love this song and Bublé and Idina in one song = perfection.

Big announcement ....

Yup, I have a big announcement to make, nope its not just big its massive and humongous....
I'm going to do The 12 days of Blogmas!

Okay, maybe you don't think its such big news, but for me it is.
Its become painfully obvious to me that I am no good at balancing my time so I have decided to commit myself to 12 days of blogging in a row. (That seems logical doesn't it). I know people blog up to the 24th, or see the 12 days as six before and six after but I will be blogging everyday until the 25th December, yes christmas day itdelf.
We are moving on the 19th so the posts may be a missing but there will be 12, and the best way to keep up to date with all my posts (if you so wish) is either on Bloglovin' or Twitter.
I hope you stick around, I know this time of year is my absolute favorite time of the year to read blog posts, I just think its an amazing thing to do on those wintery nights.

So here goes. I really hope I don't fail at this because I so want to really put more time and energy into this blog, and look at it, I have kitted out my blog especially for the season yay!

Also, if you are doing any type of Blogmas please leave your blogs below because I really want to get involved with everyones blogsfor the remander of the year, and the start of the New Year

So see you tomorrow with a christmassy post.
